What is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and when is one required?
An AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is qualified to review welding procedures, evaluate welder performance qualifications, and perform visual inspection and documentation of welds. CWIs are required on many structural steel, pressure vessel, and pipeline projects — often by contract specification or by code (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX). How do I set up an NDT program for a new fabrication project?
